Memories: Replaced!

So leading up to our 1 year anniversary, Nov. 15, we will be posting some memories of this past year.

One of the many memories is from Jan. 28, 2011 when we went back to UCI to support the organization that brought us together in the first place, Uncultivated Rabbits.  It was their first big event and they brought back Project VOICE from the year before.  Awesome show by both the Rabbits and Sarah and Phil.

Anyway, afterward we headed to the student center to grab some food and celebrate with the Rabbits since the pub had closed their kitchen.  Mark was ordering food from the Wendy’s and this picture happened during.  We thought it’d be funny to take this pic with Kevin as Mark and see Mark’s reaction the next day when we posted the picture.  Replaced was he!

So began our long and never-ending inside joke that any one of us could be replaced by Kevin who was waiting in the wings.

I can’t talk about this without mentioning that I had left in Feb to Vietnam for a month.  When I came back, I was excited to set a date for a forWord meeting because we hadn’t seen each other in so long and had planned, before I left, to premier forWord with our first group piece, Writer’s Block.  To my surprise, Kevin opened the door… Apparently, they could not wait.  Of course it was a joke but I definitely at one point said, I’m a poet! NOT A F* PHOTOGRAPHER!

Don’t ask me what I’m doing… I was in a fit of rage!

Although, in an ironic twist, Aug 2011 at APIA spoken word and poetry summit, I worked as a volunteer while these 4 wrote a piece together and I played photographer while they killed in front of everyone.

Kevin has since appointed himself our manager, “Hustle Simmons”, Mark and Kevin became “twins,” and no one has been replaced (yet)… the original forWord remains.
